Santa Monica Soft Launch Session
Soft launching a relationship on social media isn’t a new concept. Folks have been sharing teasers about their new partners - without giving their followers too much detail - ever since social media was invented. But if you fast forward to the last few years, we now have a name for those little sneak peeks into relationships: the soft launch.
Now, y’all know I love being included in secrets and surprises, so it shouldn’t come as a shock that I was over the moon to take the photos for James and Andrea’s cutie lil’ soft launch session - the fact that it was in Santa Monica was just the ultimate cherry on top!
Joshua Tree National Park Engagement
When asked what emotions they want to feel when they look back on their photos, Jody and Remington replied, “Joy. Warmth. Steadfastness. Oneness. Overall, we want to feel that there is evident delight in one another through the photos.”
Little did I know that a dusty desert path and the setting sun were all we’d need to shine a light on their love…sometimes it really is as simple as that.
Minneapolis Lakeside Engagement
When they told me they wanted to have a little fun with their second outfits, I had no idea just how much fun they meant. Let’s just say my stomach hurt by the end of our session from laughing so hard!
Wisconsin State Park Engagement
Kourtney and Jalen both told me (separately!) that 20 years from now they want to look back on this season of their lives and remember being young, in love, and how it feels as they look forward to starting their lives together. They want to recall the beauty in the simple moments, when they’re walking and holding hands or trying new recipes for dinner, and the fun they have together, referring to each other by silly nicknames, visiting breweries, and playing games.

I met Jenya and Phil for their adventure session just as the sun began to cast a golden glow across the bluffs, giving the trees across the river the appearance of a vibrant, early fall in Minnesota.
California Sailboat Adventure Session
When Aman decided to buy - and LIVE - on a sailboat fairly early into his relationship with Laura, I don’t think either of them could have imagined all the adventures that they’d share together on the water! A few years have passed since then (and more than a few things in their lives have changed), but it is still their favorite way to explore.

I spent about a week in Italy during college and have always wanted to go back - there’s just something about the history and architecture that make the sun shine a little warmer there.

Can you believe Jake carried Megan’s engagement ring in a backpack for two days while on vacation in Florida before proposing at a botanical garden? If I had been in his shoes, I would have been checking the backpack pockets every two minutes and wouldn’t have had the patience to wait for the perfect moment!
Bloomington Nature Reserve Engagement Session
We headed to one of my favorite Bloomington photo spots and made the most of a perfect Minnesota evening. A few flowers were holding on to the last remnants of summer, but I loved that we also found a little color in the leaves and grass as fall starts to take hold.

Are Sara and Matt quite possibly the cutest ever? Abso-freaking-lutely! Their Washington coast session could not have been more perfectly designed to match their upbeat and carefree personalities.

Edina Engagement Session
Is it just me, or does just about everything this spring seem more beautiful since our enjoyment of it was cut short last year? The skies are bluer, the air smells sweeter, and the flowering trees in our neighborhood are popping with even more gusto than usual…all to welcome us back to life after a long hibernation.

I drove back to central Wisconsin for Matthew and Marlana’s maternity session and discovered fresh snow on the ground, temps in the upper twenties, and stunning scenery on his family’s land…this, my friends, is what maternity session dreams are made of!
Engagement on the Oregon Coast
It was a fateful trip to Florida to visit her friend Brittany from undergraduate school when she was first introduced to Aman. He was in Navy flight school with Brittany and he and Laura must have made a good first impression on each other because it wasn’t long before they were dating long distance - Aman still in Florida and Laura back in Minnesota.
Nzube + Jumoke
St. Anthony Main is easily one of my favorite areas - to both visit personally and to photograph. The quirky, colorful shops and cafes that line the river give a little extra flavor to the city, and the beautiful skyline view of downtown Minneapolis can’t be beat! It was the perfect location for this couple - urban, but with some soft touches that made it feel like it’s been their home far longer than the last few years.
