What a day here looks like

Emily and Nick’s New Year’s Eve wedding at The Broz Event Venue was a timeless celebration of elegance and joy. The winter day was surprisingly mild and the couple opted to share their first look - and in fact, the majority of their portraits and photos with their wedding party - outdoors to make the most of the winter scenery.

Back inside, the Broz had been transformed into a chic and sophisticated New Year’s Eve haven with tastefully decorated spaces that highlighted the historic venue’s architecture. Their ceremony was set in front of a backdrop of incredible lights that shimmered as Emily and Nick pledged their lives to each other and soon champagne bottles were popping as their friends and family embraced the celebratory spirit of the holiday!

Guests moved seamlessly into cocktail hour in the speakeasy and Brick x Lounge before enjoying dinner and hilarious toasts that had the couple in tears from laughter. Soon the evening gave way to twirls, spins, and the kind of uninhabited joy on the dance floor that only a NYE wedding can inspire. Emily and Nick’s friends and family kept the celebration alive right up until the final seconds of the year, cheering together as the ball dropped and the new year began.

Tips for couples

When to schedule portraits for the best light: The light is the strongest at noon since the sun is at its highest point in the sky; scheduling photos earlier or later in the day will lead to softer light for your portraits.

Where to tuck in family photos: Family photos prior to the ceremony work well if you’re planning a first look. Otherwise, family photos immediately following the ceremony will keep everyone you need nearby to quickly move through your list of desired photos before joining the celebration and cocktail hour.

Quiet spots for a first look or private vows: The courtyard tucked behind the building and nearby park are both quiet and private; on rainy days, the fireside room and even the lounge at the top of the stairs are nice options!
